Sir Nicholas Montagu
Sir Nicholas Montagu is a former Chairman of the Inland Revenue (1997-2004), where he oversaw changes on an an unparalleled scale. As well as leading the drive to make the Revenue more focussed on its customers' needs, Nick also introduced a rigorous system of governance on Turnbull lines, leading the way for the rest of government to follow suit. He has long and deep experience of government and regulation at the highest levels, having held senior posts in Social Security, Transport and the Cabinet Office. Nick's appointments since retirement include membership of PricewaterhouseCoopers' Corporate Finance Advisory Board and a non-executive directorship of Xafinity, a pensions company previously owned by Hogg Robinson and subsequently bought by Duke Street Capital.
